Halebidu
Halebidu is a town located in Hassan District, Karnataka, India. Halebidu was the regal capital of the Hoysala Empire in the 12th century. It is home to some of the best examples of Hoysala architecture. Most notable are the ornate Hoysaleshwara and Kedareshwara temples. The city got the name "Halebidu" because it was damaged and deserted into "old capital" after being ransacked and looted twice by north Indian Muslim armies of the Delhi Sultanate in the 14th-century. The town is known for its temple complexes: Hinduism Hoysaleshwara temple Kedareshwara temple Jainism Parshvanatha Basadi Shantinatha Basadi Halebidu is connected by road and rail to Hassan and Mysuru. It is close to Belur, known for its Vaishnavism Hindu temples.
Hoysaleswara Temple
Hoysaleswara temple also referred simply as the Halebidu temple, is a 12th-century Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva. It is the largest monument in Halebidu, a town in the state of Karnataka, India, and the former capital of the Hoysala Empire.
ASI Halebeedu Museum
ASI Halebeedu Museum contains more than 1,500 relics, sculptures, inscriptions displayed in open-air and closed galleries.
Digambar Jain Temple
Jain Basadi complex in Halebidu, Hassan district consists of three Jain Basadis dedicated to the Jain Tirtankars Parshvanatha, Shantinatha, and Adinatha. The complex is situated near Kedareshwara temple and Dwarasamudra lake. These temples were constructed in the 12th century during the reign of the Hoysala Empire along with the Kedareshwara temple and Hoysaleswara Temple is now proposed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

At a distance of about 1 KM from Hoysaleshwara Temple in Halebid, Basadi Halli is situated between Hoysaleshwara Temple and Kedareshwara Temple. There are three Jain temples at Basadi Halli - Parshwanatha Swamy Temple, Adinatha Swamy Temple and Shantinatha Swamy Temple.
Best Time To Visit Halebidu
The best time to visit Halebidu is between the months of October and February. The winter season is pleasant here as the minimum temperatures not dipping below 24ºC and December being the coolest month. During the monsoon season, the twin towns receive plentiful rain thus creating a green cover like an emerald.
