Lunglei, sometimes spelled Lungleh, literally meaning 'bridge of rock' got its name from a bridge-like rock found in the riverine area around Nghasih a small tributary of the river Tlawng.

Serkawn is a village within Lunglei Administrative Block, Mizoram, India. It is continuous with Lunglei within 1 km area. It is 107 km from the state capital Aizawl. The place chosen by British missionaries, it is the home of Christianity and formal education in southern Mizoram.

Khawnglung Wildlife Sanctuary is home to so many wildlife animals like wild boar, hoolock, and gibbon, serow, barking deer, sambar deer, and leopard. Saza Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the finest wildlife sanctuary situated in lunglei district. This wildlife sanctuary is situated about 160km from the state capital Aizawl. The calm and peaceful environments all-around of this sanctuary attracts a lot of tourists people from different part of Mizoram state. The dense forest in and around this sanctuary produces a healthy environment for the growth of various wildlife animals.

Raised to the memory of a young woman called Chhingpuii who was exceedingly beautiful, it is situated between Baktawng and Chhingchhip villages on the Aizawl Lunglei Road.
