Thanjavur

Vellore

Vellore is a city in the state of Tamil Nadu, in southern India. It's known for 16th-century Vellore Fort, with its imposing granite walls and surrounding moat. Inside the fort, the Jalakandeswarar Temple features many ornate sculptures. Nearby, the Government Museum has prehistoric relics and natural history displays. By the Palar River, the Muthu Mandapam memorial houses the tomb of a Tamil leader.
Ooty

Ooty, also known as Udhagamandalam, is a hill station in the state of Tamil Nadu, in southern India. Surrounded by trees, central Ooty Lake is a huge artificial expanse of water with pleasure boats. On the slopes of nearby Elk Hill, the Rose Garden is home to over 2,000 varieties of roses. The Government Botanical Garden, created in the 19th century, features ferns, orchids, and a prehistoric, fossilized tree.
Kanchipuram

Kanchipuram is located on the banks of the Vegavathyriver, Kanchipuram has been ruled by the Pallavas, the Medieval Cholas, the Later Cholas, the Later Pandyas, the Vijayanagara Empire, the Carnatic kingdom, and the British, who called the town "Conjeeveram". The town's historical monuments include the Kailasanathar Temple and the Vaikunta Perumal Temple. Historically, Kanchipuram was a center of education and was known as the ghatikasthanam, or "place of learning". The town was also a religious center of advanced education for Jainism and Buddhism between the 1st and 5th centuries. In Vaishnavism Hindu theology, Kanchipuram is one of the seven Tirtha sites, for spiritual release.
Coimbatore

Coimbatore is a city in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. To the northwest is the centuries-old, Dravidian-style ArulmiguSubramaniyaswami Temple, Marudamalai. The colorful and intricately carved ArulmiguPatteeswararSwamy Temple lies southeast of here. In the center, the Gass Forest Museum has a huge collection of preserved animals and tree trunks. Southeast, birds, and butterflies inhabit Singanallur Lake.
Coonoor

Coonoor is a hill station in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It’s known for its tea estates in the surrounding Nilgiri hills. Sim’s Park is a sprawling public garden with plants like rhododendrons, roses, and eucalyptus trees. The steam Nilgiri Mountain Railway travels between the towns of Mettupalayam and Ooty via Coonoor. Dolphin’s Nose is a vantage point with views of the cascading Catherine Falls.
Tirunelveli

Tirunelveli, also known as Nellai and historically as Tinnevelly, is a major city in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The city is located on the west bank of the Thamirabarani River; its twin Palayankottai is on the east bank. Palayamkottai was called the Oxford of the southern Tamilnadu. It is a hub of many schools, colleges, and many important government offices. Tirunelveli is believed to be an ancient settlement of great importance. It has been ruled at different times by the Early Pandyas, the Medieval and Later Cholas, the later Pandyas, the Ma'bar and Tirunelveli Sultanates, the Vijayanagar Empire, the Madurai Nayaks, Chanda Sahib, the Carnatic kingdom, and the British. The Polygar War, involving Palaiyakkarars led by VeerapandiyaKattabomman and forces of the British East India Company, was waged on the city's outskirts from 1797 to 1801.
Hogenakkal

Dhanushkodi

Dhanushkodi is an abandoned town at the south-eastern tip of Pamban Island of the state of Tamil Nadu in India. It is situated to the South-East of Pamban and is about 18 miles west of Talaimannar in Sri Lanka. The town was destroyed during the 1964 Rameswaram cyclone and remains uninhabited in the aftermath.
Tuticorin

Thoothukudi, also known by its British name Tuticorin, is a port city and a municipal corporation, and an industrial city in Thoothukudi district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The city lies on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. Thoothukudi is the headquarters of the Thoothukudi district. It is located about 590 kilometers south of Chennai and 190 kilometers northeast of Thiruvananthapuram.
Chidambaram

Chidambaram is a town and municipality in Cuddalore district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the headquarters of the Chidambaram taluk. The town is believed to be of significant antiquity and has been ruled, at different times, by the Pallavas until the 9th century, Medieval Cholas, Later Cholas, Later Pandyas, Vijayanagar Empire, Marathas, and the British. The town is known for the ThillaiNataraja Temple, and the annual chariot festival held in the months of December–January, and June to July.
Rameshwaram

Rameswaram is a town on Pamban Island, in the southeast Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is known for Ramanathaswamy Temple, a Hindu pilgrimage site with ornate corridors, huge sculpted pillars, and sacred water tanks. Devotees bathe in the waters of Agni Theertham, off the beach east of the temple. Gandamadana Parvatham is a hill with island views. A chakra here is said to bear an imprint of Lord Rama’s feet.
Tiruchirappalli

Tiruchirappalli also called Tiruchi or Trichy is an ancient city in India's southern Tamil Nadu state. The Kaveri and Kollidam rivers flow around Srirangam Island, which is known for sacred Hindu sites Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, with intricately carved gopurams, and Jambukeswarar-Akilandeswari Temple, dedicated to the god Shiva. The Rock Fort Temple complex towers over the city center.
Kumbakonam

Kumbakonam also spelled as Coombaconum or Combaconum in the records of British India. The town is bounded by two rivers, the Kaveri River to the north and the Arasalar River to the south. A Kumbakonam is known as a "temple town" due to the prevalence of a number of temples here and is noted for its Mahamahamfestival which attracts people from all over the globe. Kumbakonam dates back to the Sangam period and was ruled by the Early Cholas, Pallavas, Medieval Cholas, Later Cholas, Pandyas, the Vijayanagar Empire, Madurai Nayaks, Thanjavur Nayaks, and the Thanjavur Marathas. It rose to be a prominent city between the 7th and 9th centuries AD when it served as a capital of the Medieval Cholas.
Yelagiri Hills

Yelagiri is a hill station in the southeast Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Built-in 1964, the hilltop Velavan Temple is a colorful Murugan temple with views of the valley below. The Jalagamparai Waterfalls crash into a swimming hole surrounded by trails and picnic spots. Nearby is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Close to artificial Punganur Lake, the Nature Park has a garden and an aquarium, with fish and tortoises.
Yercaud

Yercaud is a hill station town in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It lies in the Shevaroy Hills, known for their orange groves, and coffee, fruit, and spice plantations. Yercaud Lake has a boathouse and is surrounded by gardens and woods. On the lake’s eastern shore, Anna Park has local plants and a Japanese garden with bonsai. To the southwest, Lady’s Seat vantage point has a watchtower with a telescope.
Velankanni

Velankanni was once a port that traded with Rome and Greece, the tiny commercial center gradually lost its importance to the larger city of Nagapattinam. The canal built to link this town with Vedaranyam still lies to the west. The Vellayar, a minor branch of the Cauvery River, runs south of the town and discharges into the sea. The town is home to one of the most visited Roman Catholic Latin Rite shrines called the Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health.
Mudumalai

Mudumalai National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary also a declared tiger reserve, lies on the northwestern side of the Nilgiri Hills, in Nilgiri District, about 150 kilometers north-west of Coimbatore city in Tamil Nadu. It shares its boundaries with the states of Karnataka and Kerala. The sanctuary is divided into five ranges Masinagudi, Thepakadu, Mudumalai, Kargudi, and Nellakota.
Tiruvannamalai

Tiruvannamalai is a Hindu pilgrimage town in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. At the foot of sacred Arunachala Hill is the vast, ancient Arulmigu Arunachaleswarar Temple, dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, with intricately carved gopurams. To the west, the huge Sathanur Dam was constructed in 1958 on the Thenpennai River. Nearby there are gardens, plus a crocodile farm and a small zoo.
Tiruchendur

Tiruchendur, located on the shores of the Gulf of Munnar, is one of the six abodes of Lord Subramanya, and has one of the most beautiful natural settings of any temple in Tamil Nadu. According to legend, Lord Subramanya annihilated the Demon King Surapadman at this spot. In fact, the word Tiruchendur means a sacred and prosperous town of victory. The temples of Alwarthirunagar and Srivaikuntam are also worth visiting.
Chettinad

Chettinad is a region located mainly in the Sivaganga district of Pandya Nadu and has a small portion extending into the Pudukottai District of Chola Nadu in Tamil Nadu, India. Chettinad is the home of the Nattukottai Chettiars, a prosperous banking and business community. It is also known for its local cuisine, architecture, and religious temples.
Best Time To Visit Tamil Nadu

The best time to visit Tamil Nadu is October to February as this time the climate is usually dry or cool and ideal for sightseeing or outdoor activities. However, the climate in Tamil Nadu is basically tropical or it's believed that Tamil Nadu’s either “hot and humid” or “hot and dry” and never anything in between. The summer season is mostly warm and humid and the state experience a maximum temperature of almost 40°C, but due to picturesque hill stations Ooty, Kodaikanal, Yercaud, and Yelagiri Hills and 12-day Chithirai festival celebration in Meenakshi Temple, Madurai summer festival in Ooty make crowded this land. Tamil Nadu has two duration of rainfalls South West Monsoon and Northeast Monsoon, but due to the average rainfall recorded every year, travelers visit Tamil Nadu during monsoon.
