Day 2

Port Blair - Webi

Our vehicle will be with you early morning to take you to Webi. The journey length is 230kms and will take 8hrs (12hrs including halts). You will be provided with a packed breakfast and snacks. You will depart Port Blair at 04:00 and reach the Jirkatang check-post at 05:30, where you will have an opportunity for tea and a light snack while your escort completes the formalities to join the convoy through the Jarawa Reserve section of the Andaman Trunk Road. The convoy departs at 06:00 and reaches Nilambur jetty by 07:30. Here, your vehicle will drive on to the vehicle ferry to cross over to Baratang Island, reaching by 08:15. While at Baratang, we will stop to visit its famous limestone caves. The journey to the caves involves a scenic (shared) speedboat ride eastwards through the mangrove-fringed Middle Strait, followed by a short trek through mangroves, forest, and field to the location of the caves with stalactite and stalagmite formations in the karst landscape. A 30-minute drive across Baratang will lead to the next vehicle ferry crossing point for Kadamtala on Middle Andaman Island, which you can expect to reach by 11:30. The town of Rangat is less than 2 hours away, and the group will stop here for lunch at 13:30. We will reach Webi village by 16:30 subsequently. In the evening, visit the Andaman Karen Center where your hosts will give you an introduction to the Karen tribe and teach the making of basic handicrafts.
Day 3

Guided trek in the forest, to Karmatang Beach or Beachdera. Your host, who is a trained naturalist, will arrange a guided trek through the village, into the rainforest, and beyond. Depending upon your fitness level and permits, the trek may extend up to Beach Dera or Karmatang Beach, a 3-4hrs walk through the jungle each way. At the other end, our vehicle will be waiting to bring you back should you choose to use it. Jungle survival: learning to fish the traditional way/crabbing in the creek. A local Karen villager will take you to one of the seasonally productive creeks to teach you their local fishing techniques, and you can try your hand at it to gauge your proficiency. Depending upon the phase of the moon, the time may be right for crabbing, in which case, you can learn how the Karens trap and gather mud crabs, a local delicacy.
Day 4

Cooking classes for Karen cuisine. Your host will help you prep and cook traditional Karen dishes including one or more of the following dishes Karen Salad, Napi paste from fish, Karen rice noodles, Tapo Pa (smoked meat/fish/veg), etc. Participate in farming (specific activity depending upon season). Help around the farm or with the farm animals or vegetable garden. Depending upon the season, you may be in time to assist with either rice planting, transplanting, harvesting, grinding, threshing, or winnowing. Learn how to make a shelter with natural materials (on a smaller scale). Make a scaled-down version of a basic Karen shed using locally growing traditional materials of cane, bamboo, and thatch.
Day 5

Webi - Havelock

Our vehicle will take you to the Nimbutala jetty at Rangat. Ferries ply this sector only on Tuesday, Friday, Sunday. If on Tuesday or Sunday, the ferry will depart at 6 am from Rangat, which means you will have to leave Webi at 03:30 am. If on a Friday, the ferry will depart at 13:30 hours and you can depart Webi after a satisfying brunch at 11:00 am. The ferry transfer from Rangat to Havelock is by Government ferry. The journey to Rangat, on a direct sailing, will take 21⁄2 hours (Friday), if via Strait Island and Long Island, it will take 4hrs (Tuesday and Sunday). At Havelock jetty, you will be met by our vehicle, which will transfer you to the hotel at Havelock resort, where you can spend the rest of the day unwinding on the world-famous Radhanagar Beach.
Day 6

OPTIONAL: Scuba Diving Experience - Depart early morning to Barefoot Scuba where you will kit out for your first ever dive experience (Try Dive at Nemo Reef). Your instructors will guide you through the theory and familiarize you with all equipment and then take you to Nemo Reef for your first ever scuba dive. Please ensure that your medical form is completed and shared with us prior to arrival to ensure that there are no contraindications in your medical history that would exclude you from diving. Day 7

Post breakfast at the hotel, the rest of the day is at leisure. OPTIONAL: Paddle Boarding (Stand up Boarding) - Here, you will be instructed on the fast-growing watersport of Stand Up Paddling (SUP), which is practiced on a surfboard (if the wave action on Radhanagar Beach is too significant at the time of your visit, the activity will be conducted at Govindanagar Beach instead). OPTIONAL: Cycling and Short Trek - In the afternoon, embark upon your visit to Kalapathar, departing from Barefoot Scuba Resort at Govindanagar Beach and cycling 8kms to Kalapathar Beach with your guide. Kalapathar is a scenic beach, access to which is through a wonderful coastal road. Spend time at Kalapathar beach, including a short coastal and forest trek, before cycling back to your departure point.
Day 8

Post breakfast at the hotel, the rest of the day is at leisure. OPTIONAL: Trek to Elephant Beach - This popular early morning trek (1 1⁄2 hrs each way) takes you through the dense rainforests, the mangroves, and ends at the beach. You can merely relax, snorkel or take part in any of the water activities conducted by various operators (at further additional cost and direct payment) and later embark on the journey back through the fascinating jungle. OPTIONAL: Cruise of Ritchie’s Archipelago - In the afternoon, board one of our speedboats and embark upon a fascinating cruise through Ritchie’s Archipelago, sailing past a few uninhabited islands such as Wilson, Nicholson, Peel, Henry Lawrence Island: these islands, in the same archipelago as Havelock Island, were once home to the Akar Bale sept of the Great Andamanese tribe and now form part of the Rani Jhansi Marine National Park.
Day 9

Havelock – Port Blair

Depart Havelock in the morning (approx. 10 am ferry) and arrive at Port Blair in time for an early lunch. Then, proceed to visit Ross Island (Closed: Wednesday). The erstwhile capital of Port Blair during the British regime, the island hosts the ruins of old buildings damaged by earthquakes and during the Japanese occupation during World War 2. The historical ruins include the Chief Commissioner House, Church, Bakery, etc all in a dilapidated condition with fig trees growing around and through them.
