For an authentic taste of Jamaica, step outside the resorts. The "Hip Strip" and surrounding streets are lined with local restaurants serving jerk chicken, curried goat, and fresh seafood. Scotchies is a legendary roadside jerk center located just outside the main tourist zone, offering some of the best smoky, spicy jerk pork and chicken on the island.

Indian travelers will find excellent vegetarian options thanks to Jamaica's Rastafarian influence. Look for restaurants serving "Ital" food—natural, plant-based meals cooked without salt or artificial additives, often featuring coconut milk, callaloo (leafy greens), and roasted breadfruit. Most all-inclusive resorts also have dedicated vegetarian sections in their dinner buffets.

Sangster International Airport (MBJ) is highly organized. Upon exiting customs, you will find the official JUTA (Jamaica Union of Travellers Association) taxi desk. Always use JUTA taxis or hotel-arranged transfers for safety and fixed, fair pricing. Avoid unlicensed taxis soliciting inside the terminal.

Montego Bay is a major transit hub. If your Jamaica itinerary includes Negril or Ocho Rios, the Knutsford Express is the safest and most comfortable way to travel. These luxury coaches depart from the Montego Bay terminal and connect all major tourist towns. Private drivers can also be hired for door-to-door convenience.
