• Currency: The Rwandan Franc (RWF) is the standard. Carry small denominations for markets.
• USD Cash: Crisp, newer USD bills (2013 series or later) are widely accepted for larger purchases like coffee or premium crafts.
• Cards: International Visa/Mastercard are accepted in supermarkets, galleries, and upscale restaurants, but not at street stalls.
• UPI: Not available in Rwanda. Rely on cash or international cards.

• Plastic Bag Ban: Rwanda strictly bans single-use plastic bags. Your luggage may be searched at the airport, and any plastic bags will be confiscated. Shops will provide reusable cloth or paper bags.
