To Arenal & Monteverde

  • Shared Shuttles: Companies like Interbus and Gray Line will pick you up directly from your San José hotel lobby. The ride to Arenal takes about 3.5 hours.
  • Public Bus: Departs from the "La Uruca" terminal (west of the center). Very cheap (~₹500) but requires a taxi to the terminal and is not recommended for travelers with heavy luggage.
  • Domestic Flights: Sansa Airlines operates 30-minute flights from the Tobías Bolaños International Airport (SYQ) in Pavas to Arenal and Monteverde.
