Belur, is a Town Municipal Council and taluka in Hassan district in the state of Karnataka, India. The town is renowned for its Chennakeshava Temple, one of the finest examples of Hoysala workmanship.
Chennakesava Temple
Chennakeshava Temple also referred to as Keshava, Kesava, or Vijayanarayana Temple of Belur, is a 12th-century Hindu temple in the Hassan district of Karnataka.
Yagachi Dam
Yagachi dam was constructed in the year 2001. The reservoir is situated at an altitude of 965 meters above sea level. The length of the Yagachi dam is 1280 meters. The maximum height above the foundation of the reservoir is 26.237 meters.
Narasimha Pillar
Situated inside the Chennakesava Temple complex in Belur, the Narasimha Pillar is a magnificent stone pillar with a height of about 30 feet. All sculptures of the temple are carved on this pillar in a miniature form. The pillar is made with soapstone. The base of the pillar is cubical in shape with floral decoration.
Madanikas
Inspired by Shantala Devi, queen of King Vishnuvardhana, there are 42 Bracket Figures called Madanikas or Celestial Nymphs carved out of soapstone placed in different corners of the Chennakesava Temple. All Madanikas are found in different postures of Bharata Natyam and carved to the minute detail.

Best Time To Visit Belur
The best time to visit Belur is between the months of October and April. Belur enjoys a tropical climate, just like the neighboring cities. The summer season in Belur starts from the month of March and lasts till June. During this time, the city experiences warm weather, with the maximum temperature being around 39°C.
