About Nepal
Nepal is a nation between India and Tibet known for its temples and Himalayan mountains, which include Mt. Everest. Kathmandu, the capital, has a mazelike old quarter filled with Hindu and Buddhist shrines. Around Kathmandu Valley are Swayambhunath, a Buddhist temple with resident monkeys; Boudhanath, a massive Buddhist stupa; Hindu temples and cremation grounds at Pashupatinath; and the medieval city of Bhaktapur.
White-water rafting trips follow mountain rivers such as the Sun Koshi and Seti. In the southern Terai lowlands are Chitwan and Bardia national parks, home to rhinos and tigers, and jungle safaris by Jeep or on elephant-back. Lumbini, Buddha’s birthplace, has monasteries and monuments and is a Buddhist pilgrimage site. Annapurna Circuit treks start in Kathmandu and stop in Pokhara, a relaxed lakeside town with yoga centers and waterside cafes.
Chitwan National Park
Chitwan National Park is a preserved area in the Terai Lowlands of south-central Nepal, known for its biodiversity. Its dense forests and grassy plains are home to rare mammals like one-horned rhinos and Bengal tigers. The park shelters numerous bird species, including the giant hornbill. Dugout canoes traverse the northern Rapti River, home to crocodiles. Inside the park is Balmiki Ashram, a Hindu pilgrimage site.

Kathmandu Valley, historically known as Nepal Valley or Nepa Valley, lies at the crossroads of ancient civilizations of the Indian subcontinent and the broader Asian continent and has at least 130 important monuments, including several pilgrimage sites for Hindus and Buddhists.
Pashupatinath Temple
The Pashupatinath Temple is a famous and sacred Hindu temple complex that is located on the banks of the Bagmati River, approximately 5 km north-east of Kathmandu in the eastern part of Kathmandu Valley, the capital of Nepal. The temple serves as the seat of Pashupatinath.
Muktinath
Muktinath is a Vishnu temple, sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists. It is located in Muktinath Valley at the foot of the Thorong La mountain pass in Mustang, Nepal. It is one of the world's highest temples.
Swayambhunath
Swayambhu is an ancient religious complex atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley, west of Kathmandu city. The Tibetan name for the site means 'Sublime Trees', for the many varieties of trees found on the hill.
Boudhanath
Boudha is a stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal. Located about 11 km from the center and northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu, its massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal and the world. The influx of large populations of refugees from Tibet has seen the construction of over 50 gompas around Boudha.
Bardiya National Park
Bardiya National Park is a protected area in Nepal that was established in 1988 as Royal Bardia National Park. Covering an area of 968 km. it is the largest and most undisturbed national park in Nepal's Terai, adjoining the eastern bank of the Karnali River and bisected by the Babai River in the Bardiya District.
Durbar Square
Kathmandu Durbar Square in front of the old royal palace of the former Kathmandu Kingdom is one of three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is a landmark, ancient royal complex with various palaces, temples, courtyards, and a museum.
Sagarmatha National Park
Sagarmatha National Park is a protected area in the Himalayas of northeast Nepal. It is dominated by snow-capped mountains including Mount Everest, and encompasses glaciers, valleys, and trails. It’s home to rare species like the snow leopard, musk deer, and red panda. Many Sherpa people live here, praying at Buddhist sites such as Tengboche Monastery. The Gokyo Lakes are known for migrant waterbirds.
Narayanhity Palace
The Narayanhiti Palace Museum is a public museum in Kathmandu, Nepal located east of the Kaiser Mahal and next to Thamel. It is a museum and former palace showcasing royal jewels and the scene of the Nepalese Royal Massacre.
Langtang National Park
Langtang National Park was established in 1976 as Nepal's first Himalayan national park and the country's fourth protected area. Langtang National Park exhibits a high diversity of 14 vegetation types in 18 ecosystem types, ranging from upper tropical forests below 3,300 feet altitude to alpine scrub and perennial ice.
Kathmandu
Kathmandu, Nepal's capital, is set in a valley surrounded by the Himalayan mountains. At the heart of the old city’s mazelike alleys is Durbar Square, which becomes frenetic during Indra Jatra, a religious festival featuring masked dances. Many of the city's historic sites were damaged or destroyed by a 2015 earthquake. Durbar Square's palace, Hanuman Dhoka, and Kasthamandap, a wooden Hindu temple, are being rebuilt.
Pokhara
Pokhara is a city on Phewa Lake, in central Nepal. It’s known as a gateway to the Annapurna Circuit, a popular trail in the Himalayas. Tal Barahi Temple, a 2-story pagoda, sits on an island in the lake. On the eastern shore, the Lakeside district has yoga centers and restaurants. In the city’s south, the International Mountain Museum has exhibits on the history of mountaineering and the people of the Himalayas.

Best Time To Visit Nepal
Most visitors arrive in Nepal from September to November, when the weather is mild and dry, making it the peak season for trekking. The Winter season is from December to February with cold and snow in the mountains, though hiking at lower elevations is possible. Monsoon season is from June to August, with hot, wet weather.
