About Rourkela
Rourkela is a planned city located in the northern part of Odisha. It is the third-largest city in Odisha. It is situated about 340 kilometers north of state capital Bhubaneswar and is surrounded by a range of hills and encircled by rivers. The city is also popularly known as Ispat Nagar and also as the Steel City of Odisha. It has one of the largest steel plants of the Steel Authority of India Limited known as Rourkela Steel Plant.
Vedavyas Temple
The name coined after the great sage Vyashadeva who wrote the great epic Mahabharat. The place has immense importance because it is situated on the side of the confluence of three rivers Sankha, Koel, and underground Saraswati with the creation of Brahmani River.
Vaishno Devi Temple
Vaishnodevi Temple at Rourkela is a replica of the original Temple of Vaishnodevi of Jammu and is situated on the top of the Durgapur Hill.

Khandadhar Falls

Hanuman Vatika
Hanuman Vatika, or the garden belonging to Hanuman, is situated in Rourkela. The garden houses the second tallest statue of Hanuman in Orissa.
Harishankar Falls
Harishankar Fall is located on the southern side of Gandhamardhan hills in Balangir. The Harishankar dazzles with a series of bewitching waterfalls cascading on the hillslopes.
Darjeeng Park
Darjeeng Park is situated 51 km from Rourkela, on the banks of the river Bramhini which is also known as a beautiful picnic spot.
Best Time To Visit Rourkela
Rourkela has a tropical climate and receives high rainfall during Southwest monsoon from June to September and retreating Northeast monsoon from December to January. The summers begin in Rourkela from the end of March and remain till the end of June. The highest and the lowest temperature during the season recorded are 21°C and 37°C respectively. The months of mid-May and June are seen as the hottest months here. The town witnesses a tropical climate and usually receives high rainfall. It experiences rainfalls due to the southwest monsoon between the months of June and September and retreating northeast monsoon between the months of December and January. Winters always remain chilly in this city as temperature sometimes drastically falls down. The best time to visit Rourkela is from October to March. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded during this season are 9°C and 24°C respectively.
