About Puducherry

Puducherry, formerly known as Pondicherry, is a union territory of India. It was formed out of four exclaves of former French India, namely Pondichery, Karikal, Mahe, and Yanaon. It is named after the largest district, Puducherry. Puducherry lies in the southern part of the Indian Peninsula. The areas of Puducherry district and Karaikal district are bound by the state of Tamil Nadu, while Yanam district and Mahe district are enclosed by the states of Andhra Pradesh and Kerala respectively.
Shri Aurobindo Ghosh Ashram

Sri Aurobindo Ashram is a spiritual community located in Pondicherry, in the Indian territory of Puducherry. The ashram grew out of a small community of disciples who had gathered around Sri Aurobindo after he retired from politics and settled in Pondicherry in 1910.
Golden Globe

Best Time To Visit Puducherry

The best time to plan a vacation to Puducherry or Pondicherry is during the winter months, from November till March. The summer season in Pondicherry is humid and hot. The temperature during the summer season varies from 26°C to 42°C. Humidity during this period might range up to 93%. The monsoon in Pondicherry is irregular. The place receives sometimes less and sometimes heavy rainfall. The temperature from July to September ranges between 25°C to 35°C. Monsoon is the perfect season to enjoy the natural beauty of Pondicherry. The month of August is also considered to be as the best time to visit Pondicherry as the celebration across the city is held to commemorate the birthday of Sri Aurobindo. Winters are pleasantly cool and ideal to enjoy sightseeing in Pondicherry. The temperature from October to November varies between 22°C to 32°C.
