About Pokhara
Pokhara is a city on Phewa Lake, in central Nepal. It’s known as a gateway to the Annapurna Circuit, a popular trail in the Himalayas. Tal Barahi Temple, a 2-story pagoda, sits on an island in the lake. On the eastern shore, the Lakeside district has yoga centers and restaurants. In the city’s south, the International Mountain Museum has exhibits on the history of mountaineering and the people of the Himalayas.
West of the museum and past the small Devi’s Falls, is the Tashi Ling Tibetan settlement, where Tibetan crafts are made. The bright-white World Peace Pagoda, with its golden Buddha statues, stands on a high ridge overlooking the lake and the city. The Bindhyabasini Temple, dedicated to the Hindu goddess Durga, is in the city’s north, on a hill close to the old bazaar. The nearby Gurkha Memorial Museum has exhibits on the history of the Gurkha regiments, including weapons and uniforms. West of here, Sarangkot Hill offers panoramic views of the mountains. It's also a popular launch site for paragliders.
Annapurna Circuit
Annapurna Circuit is a trek within the mountain ranges of central Nepal. The total length of the route varies between 160 to 230 km, depending on where motor transportation is used and where the trek is ended. This trek crosses two different river valleys and encircles the Annapurna Massif.
Phewa Lake
Phewa Lake, Phewa Tal or Fewa Lake is a freshwater lake in Nepal formerly called Baidam Tal located in the south of the Pokhara Valley that includes Pokhara city parts of Sarangkot and Kaskikot.
Davi's Falls
Devi's Falls is a waterfall located at Pokhara in Kaski District, Nepal. The water forms a tunnel after reaching the bottom. This tunnel is approximately 500 feet long and runs 100 feet below ground level.
Mahendra Cave
Mahendra Cave is a cave located in Pokhara-16, batulechaur, Kaski district, close to the Kali Khola, is the large limestone cave. It is a rare example of a cave system in Nepal containing stalagmites and stalactites. The cave attracts thousands of tourists every year.
Tal Barahi Temple
Tal Barahi Temple, also known as Lake Temple or Barahi Temple is a two-story pagoda temple located in the Kaski District of the Gandaki Zone in western Nepal. It is a Hindu temple of the Goddess Durga, the protector of gods. It is located on a small island on the south east section of Phewa Lake in Pokhara.
International Mountain Museum
The International Mountain Museum is a museum located in Pokhara. The museum contains three main exhibition halls the Hall of Great Himalayas, Hall of Fame, and Hall of World Mountains. Inside the museum, there are exhibits on famous peaks, descriptions of famous mountaineers, the culture and lifestyle of mountain people, flora subscribe and fauna including geology, in an attempt to represent the traditional culture and values of the Nepalese people.
Regional Museum
Regional Museum is a small, rustic museum dedicated to documenting the history and culture of the region's ethnic groups.
World Peace Pagoda
World Peace Pagoda or Pokhara Shanti Stupa is a Buddhist pagoda-style monument on Anadu Hill. Shanti Stupa in Pokhara was built by Nipponzan-Myōhōji monk Morioka Sonin with local supporters under the guidance of Nichidatsu Fujii, a Buddhist monk and the founder of Nipponzan-Myōhōji.
