About Bulawayo
Bulawayo is a city in southwest Zimbabwe. It is the gateway to Matobo National Park, home to the Matobo Hills rock formations and Stone Age cave art. Park wildlife includes rhinos and black eagles. Nearby, Tshabalala Game Sanctuary has zebra and impala. West of Bulawayo, the ruins of 15th-century Khami city comprise stone walls and terraces. Bulawayo’s Natural History Museum of Zimbabwe displays finds from the site.
Matobo National Park
Matobo National Park is also known for the Matobo Hills, a range of balancing rock formations created by the erosion of the granite plateau. The walls of Nswatugi Cave feature Stone Age rock art. The park has significant populations of black eagles and both black and white rhinos. The grave of Cecil Rhodes, founder of the former British colony Rhodesia, is carved into the summit of Malindidzimu. Part of the national park is set aside as a game park, which has been stocked with games including the white rhinoceros.
Bulawayo Railway Museum
Bulawayo Railway Museum is a railway museum located at Bulawayo railway station in Zimbabwe that houses several exhibitions on the history of the railway system in Zimbabwe, formerly Rhodesia. Its oldest exhibits date back to 1897 and include Cecil Rhodes' personal railway coach. There are also a number of items and pieces of art related to the railway industry at the museum.
Natural History Museum of Zimbabwe
Natural History Museum of Zimbabwe contains exhibits illustrating the history, mineral wealth, and wildlife of Zimbabwe, including the second-largest mounted elephant in the world. The museum has nine public display galleries, a lecture hall with a seating capacity of 120 people, a cafeteria, and eight research departments with substantial study collections
Khami Ruins
Khami is also known as Khame, Kame or Kami is a ruined city located 22 kilometres west of Bulawayo and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was once the capital of the Kalanga Kingdom of Butwa of the Torwa dynasty for about 200 years from around 1450. The site of Khami reveals seven built-up areas occupied by the royal family with open areas in the valley occupied by the commoners. The complex comprises circular, sometimes terraced, artificial platforms encased by dry stone walls.

The best time to visit Bulawayo is from December to January when the weather is pleasant.
