About Dar es Salaam

Dar es Salaam, a major city and commercial port on Tanzania’s Indian Ocean coast, grew from a fishing village. The open-air Village Museum has re-created the traditional homes of local and other Tanzanian tribes and hosts tribal dancing. It is part of the National Museum, which offers Tanzanian history exhibits, including the fossils of human ancestors found by anthropologist Louis Leakey.

The reserve is characterized by a large number of endemic species of animals and plants.
Azania Front Lutheran Church

Azania Front Lutheran Church is a Lutheran church in Dar es Salaam serving as a cathedral for the local diocese. It is among the most well-known landmarks and tourist attractions of the city. The church was built by the German missionaries in 1898, in the Bavarian-style of the time, with a red-tiled roof, tiled canopies over the windows, and bright white walls.
Village Museum

The museum showcases only a few of the Dominant tribes are represented at the museum. St. Joseph Cathedral

Saint Joseph's Metropolitan Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It is a Gothic church located in Sokoine Drive, facing the harbor, close to the White Fathers' House. The cathedral is the seat of the Dar es Salaam archdiocese. One of the most notable features of the church is the stained-glass windows behind the altar.
Kariakoo Market

Kariakoo market in Dar es Salaam is built in 1974 by the architect B.J. Amuli. It is known for its extensive market, which spans several city blocks and contributes substantially to Dar es Salaam's food provision as well as the economy. The building offers three layers of the market area and forms the center of the Kariakoo market which is spread out in the neighborhood.
Askari Monument

Askari Monument or Dar es Salaam African Memorial is a memorial to the askari soldiers who fought in the British campaign against the German Army in East Africa in World War I. The monument was erected in honor of the King's African Rifles and the Carrier Corps. The main feature of the monument is "The Askari", a bronze sculpture of an African soldier.
Coco Beach

Coco Beach is one of the more famous beaches in the city that is frequented by locals and even hosting several holiday beach parties and festivals. The beach has several restaurants, food stands, and shops renting beach equipment such as floaters.
