Surguja
Surguja is the headquarters of the Surguja District in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh and is famous for historical monuments, temple carvings, or simply the mind-numbing beauty of nature. The Surguja district is located in the northern part of Chhattisgarh State. The Borders of the states of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Orissa, and the Madhya Pradesh States are adjoining to the district.
Mahamaya Temple
Mahamaya Temple is one of the ancient and renowned pilgrimage sites of Surguja. People here have immense faith in Mahamaya Devi and so they celebrate this auspicious occasion with lots of zest and enthusiasm.
Kendai Waterfall
Kendai Waterfall is a natural waterfall and a delightful picnic spot. This charming waterfall lies at Kendai village which is situated at a distance of 85 km from Korba district headquarter on the Bilaspur-Ambikapur State highway No. 5 in Chhattisgarh.
Tata Pani
Tata Pani is a hot spring, flowing continuously throughout the year. Water is so hot near the source of hot water, even the rice is cooked on a piece of cloth. It is famous for its medicinal properties to cure skin diseases.
Kudergarhi Devi
The Maa Bagheshwari Devi Temple dedicated to Goddess Kudargarhi is perched on top of a hill and is the major attraction in Kudargarh.
Ramgarh Hill
Ramgarh hills are located 50 km from Ambikapur, headquarter of Surguja District. There are the oldest temples and caves, which are of historical significance. Books like Meghdutam by Kalidas and many inscriptions are written here. Ramayan Evidence is also found in Ramgarh Hills, it is also called Ramgiri.
Thinthini Patthar
It is a rock of about two hundred Quintal, cylindrical in shape resting on ground rocks. When it is stricken with a solid material, a metallic sound echoes. The different sound comes to form different points of the stone.
Pawai Waterfall
Situated near Kothali village in Ramanujganj Block near Surguja, Pawai Waterfall is a magnificent natural waterfall of about 61 meters in height and a popular picnic spot.
Nageshwar Temple
It is situated 95 km from Ambikapur, at Kusmi Nageshwar Temple is a natural temple of Lord Shiva. The main attraction in this temple is the shadow created by Snake. A big festival is organized every year on the occasion of Mahashivratri.
Deogarh
A village of Ambikapur tahsil, Deogarh is situated on the bank of the Rihand amidst calm and quiet scenic beauty. The place is also called Deoria, due to the great number of divinities scattered all around. There are several mounds, formed by the debris of temples, each crowned with a deity.
Semarsot Wildlife Sanctuary
Semarsot Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over an area of 430 sq km. Tropic of Cancer passes through the area. Main species that generally occur are Terminalia alata, Terminalia chebula, Lagerstroemia parviflora, Anogeissus latifolia, Terminalia arjuna Terminalia bellerica, Adina cordfolia, etc. and the wildlife found are leopards, chital, wild bear, chinkara, sambhar, nilgai, fox, wild cat, and a wide variety of reptiles and birds.
Best Time To Visit Raigarh
The winter season from October to March is the best time to visit Surguja.
