Vishansar Lake

Nilagrad River

Nilagrad River is a beautiful mountain river in Sonmarg city. At the Baltic Colony, the River joins the Indus River. The river is small in size and gets its shape from the conjoining of the river in the Baltic settlement.
Zoji La Pass

Zoji La is 9 km from Sonamarg and provides a vital link between Ladakh and Kashmir Valley. It runs at an elevation of approximately 11,575 ft and is the second-highest pass after Fotu La on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway.
Thajiwas Glacier

Thajiwas Glacier is just half an hour walk from Sonamarg town in Kashmir. It is the main tourist attraction of this beautiful town.
Krishnasar Lake

Krishansar Lake is an alpine high altitude oligotrophic lake situated in the vicinity of Sonamarg, less than one kilometer from Vishansar Lake north westwards at an elevation of 3710 meters. It has a maximum length of 0.95 kilometers and a maximum width of 0.6 kilometers.
Baltal Valley

Narang Nag

Naranag or Nara Nag is a tourist village of Ganderbal district, Jammu and Kashmir. It is located around 8 km from Kangan, 6 km upstream from the Sind River.
Best Time To Visit Sonmarg

The best time to visit Sonmarg is from April to October. The summer season offers cool and calm weather. The temperature ranges between 9°C to 34°C. The weather is ideal for sightseeing and activities such as camping and trekking. During this season, you can visit attractions such as Yousmarg, Baltal, Gangabal Lake, and Krishnasar Park. Sonmarg can experience rainfall at any part of the year. As it receives heavy rainfall, it is not recommended to go for activities such as trekking and camping, etc.  Winters in Sonmarg begin with the coming of November and they last till April. At this time, the temperature drops low to the subzero level. Sonmarg experiences heavy snowfall during this time. Tourists can enjoy breathtaking views of Nilagrad River, Satsar Lake, and Thajiwas Glacier.
