Udupi

Udupi is a city in the southwest Indian state of Karnataka. It is known for its Hindu temples, including the huge, 13th-century Sri Krishna Temple, which houses a statue of Lord Krishna and attracts many pilgrims. Nearby, the ancient Anantheshwara Temple is dedicated to the god Shiva. The Corporation Bank Heritage Museum features coins dating from 400 BC, plus stamps and displays about India’s banking industry. To the northwest, long, sandy Malpe Beach is a water-sports hub. Offshore, St. Mary's Islands are a group of four small islands. Ferries lead to the largest one, which has coconut trees and basalt rock formations. Further south is Mattu Beach and Kapu Beach, with a lighthouse. East, in Manipal, Hasta Shilpa Heritage Village is a cultural site preserving traditional architecture and crafts. To the north is Malyadi Bird Sanctuary, a marshy area for migratory and local birds such as sandpipers and cormorants. East of Udupi, the forested Kudremukh National Park is home to endangered wildlife including tigers and lion-tailed macaques.

Best Time To Visit Udupi

The best time to visit is between the months of September to October. Summer usually starts in the month of March and lasts till June. Mercury during this time rises to about 40°C. During nights, it however lowers reaching 22°C. Monsoon starts from June and lasts till September, offering an average rainfall accompanied by heavy winds in southwest and northeast directions. During winters, the temperature lowers down considerably, with the maximum temperature reaching only about 32° C. At nights, mercury drops down further reaching the 10°C. While the days are warm and sunny, nights are often chill and cool.
