Orchha is the erstwhile capital city of the Bundela rulers. The town is steeped in history and is famous for its palaces and temples built in the 16th and 17th centuries. The architectural splendor of the monuments in Orchha reflects the glory of its rulers. The Betwa River, on whose banks Orchha lies, and the forests around it attract tourists to this place.

Ram Raja Temple was originally the palace of Raja Madhukar Shah’s queen Rani Ganeshkuwari and used to be known as Rani Mahal.
Best Time To Visit Orchha
The best time to visit Orchha is the winters when local temperatures range between 25°C to 7°C. Winters fall in between the months of December to February end. It is best to stay here for a week to experience the place as well as its surroundings. April to June are not to be here in as the temperatures fall between 27°C to 45°C it can even go high making it impossible to walk around. Monsoon comes in July and goes in the middle of September. The rains do change the temperature but as it keeps on pouring for 2 to 3 days continuously, it is not a good idea to be here in these months.
