Tarkarli is a village in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. On the shores of the Arabian Sea, it’s known for the white sands and clear waters of Tarkarli Beach, a popular spot for water sports. Sindhudurg Fort, on an island just off the coast, was built in the 17th century by the Maratha rulers. To the south, the peaceful backwaters of the Karli River are lined with palm trees and inhabited by dolphins.

Built between 1664-67 AD by Shivaji Maharaj, the Sindhudurg fort has its foundation laid on molten lead. One of the best-preserved sea forts Sindhudurg fort has a four km long rampart with 42 bastions.
Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Temple
The temple was dedicated by Rajaram to his father, the Maratha King Chhatrapati Shivaji. Later, in 1695, the temple was given the name Shree Shivchhatrapati Temple.

Best Time To Visit Tarkarli
The best time to visit Tarkarli is from the month of September to March. These few months are considered to be the best and season in Tarkarli. One can do scuba diving in clear water, experience the thrill of water sports, and taste all varieties of seafood. Summers extend from March to June. The average temperature during summers remains around 32°C and never rises above that. The weather is good for tourist activities.
