About Cherrapunjee
Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra, is a high-altitude town in the northeast Indian state of Meghalaya. It's known for its living root bridges, made from rubber trees. To the northeast, Mawkdok Dympep Valley View Point overlooks verdant gorges. In the surrounding hills, the Noh-Kalikai, Dain-Thlen, and Kynrem waterfalls plunge from forested clifftops. South of town, Mawsmai Cave is illuminated to show its stalagmites.
Nohkalikai Falls
Nohkalikai Falls is the tallest plunge waterfall in India. Its height is 1115 feet. The waterfall is located near Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on earth.
Mawsmai Cave
Mawsmai Cave is a narrow, rugged limestone cave with a dimly-lit access point, low overhangs, and often uneven footing. Mawmluh Cave, located at a distance of around half a kilometer to the west of Cherrapunjee. In the entire Indian sub-continent, this cave is considered the fourth longest cave with a height of 4,503 meter.
Krem Phyllut Cave
Krem Phyllut Cave is most visited by the Locals and the tourist from different parts of the world. This cave has two separate river passages and three entrances within the cave.
Dain-Thlen Falls
Dain-Thlen Fall is a scenic park and popular picnic spot featuring a large waterfall in a serene landscape.
Kynrem Falls
Kynrem Falls is located 12 kilometers from Cherrapunji in East Khasi Hills. It is situated inside Thangkharang Park. It is the 7th highest waterfalls in India.
Nohsngithiang Falls
Nohsngithiang Falls is a seven-segmented waterfall located 1 kilometre south of Mawsmai village in East Khasi Hills. The waterfalls from a height of 315 metres and has an average width of 70 metres.

Best Time To Visit Cherrapunji
Cherrapunji receives heavy rainfall throughout the year. So, the best time to visit Cherrapunji is between the months of October and May, when the weather remains cool and pleasant. The summer season in Cherrapunji begins with the coming of March and it ends with May. The place receives a moderate amount of rainfall during this season. May is the wettest summer month and it is best to avoid this month for a visit to the destination. Cherrapunji receives rainfall throughout the year. However, the amount of rainfall increases from the month of June till September. During this season, the temperature drops down and it ranges between 12°C to 16°C. Because of the heavy rains, it is best to avoid visiting Cherrapunji during the monsoon season. Cherrapunji welcomes the winter season with the coming of November and it lasts till February. The place experiences low temperature along with rains during these winter months. The temperature during these months drops down to as low as 5°C. However, the average temperature remains somewhere around 15°C. It is a good time to visit Cherrapunji and sightseeing at its beautiful attractions.
