Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, is a large city on the Brisbane River. Clustered in its South Bank cultural precinct are the Queensland Museum and Sciencentre, with noted interactive exhibitions. Another South Bank cultural institution is the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, among Australia's major contemporary art museums. Looming over the city is Mt. Coot-tha, the site of Brisbane Botanic Gardens. Ferries cruise the winding river. At one bend, modern skyscrapers crowd around the restored 1920s City Hall. Nearby, the Roma Street Parkland is a subtropical garden that’s home to native and endangered plants. For shopping, the Queen Street Mall is also in the central business district, and James Street in Fortitude Valley has restaurants and cafes. Further upriver, the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary offers visitors the chance to hold koalas and hand-feed kangaroos. Out in Moreton Bay, North Stradbroke Island is home to an Aboriginal settlement, a former convict station, and shipwrecks.
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is an 18-hectare koala sanctuary in the Brisbane suburb and the world's oldest and largest koala sanctuary in the world. The wildlife in the sanctuary includes koalas, kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, wombats, echidnas, and various species of reptiles. Visitors are allowed to hold koalas for a fee and feed the free-roaming kangaroos where more than 130 of the animals freely reside.
Story Bridge

Story Bridge is a heritage-listed steel cantilever bridge spanning the Brisbane River that carries vehicular, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic between the northern and the southern suburbs of Brisbane. It is the longest cantilever bridge in Australia and named after prominent public servant John Douglas Story. The Story Bridge features prominently in the annual Riverfire display and is illuminated at night.
Glass House Mountains

Glass House Mountains are a cluster of thirteen hills that rise abruptly from the coastal plain on the Sunshine Coast. The range was formed as molten lava cooled to form hard rock in the cores of volcanoes 26 to 27 million years ago. Each of the peaks is protected within the Glass House Mountains National Park. Scattered throughout the hills are shallow caves that have been formed by wind erosion on rocks that were softened by groundwater.
Brisbane City Hall

Brisbane City Hall, in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, is the seat of the Brisbane City Council. The building was designed according to the Italian Renaissance style, symmetrical and formal. The building has been used for royal receptions, pageants, orchestral concerts, civic greetings, flower shows, school graduations, and political meetings.
Newstead House

Newstead House is Brisbane's oldest surviving residence and is located on the Breakfast Creek bank of the Brisbane River. It was built as a small cottage in the Colonial-Georgian style in 1846, the cottage was extended and today is painted and furnished in a late Victorian style.
Wheel of Brisbane

The Wheel of Brisbane also known as Brisbane Eye is a Bussink R60 transportable Ferris wheel installation in Brisbane. Each of the 42 air-conditioned capsules can seat up to six adults, two children and provides 360° views across the city.
ANZAC Square

ANZAC Square is also known as the 9th Battalion Memorial and Queensland Women's War Memoria is a heritage-listed town square and war memorial located between Ann Street and Adelaide Street, in Brisbane. It is a state memorial to the men and women who participated in overseas armed service and is named in honor of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. It features war-related statues, for various wars, including memorial statues for the Queensland soldiers who fought during the Second Boer War, as well as World War II, the Vietnam War, and campaigns in Korea, Borneo and New Guinea.
The Giant Drop

Giant Drop is an Intamin drop tower ride located at the Dreamworld theme park on the Gold Coast. The Giant Drop held the record for the tallest drop tower in the world for 14 years. It consists of a pair of vertical tracks that attach to the flank of the Dreamworld Tower. Each track features one, eight-seat floorless gondola in which riders are harnessed in by over-the-shoulder restraints.
Cathedral of St Stephen

The Cathedral of St Stephen is the heritage-listed cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane and the seat of its archbishop in Brisbane. St Stephen's is a gothic revival cathedral with a cruciform shape in plan. Inside the cathedral, the stained glass windows are vividly illuminated by the sun and cast coloured patterns on the floor and walls.
